Bach and Before For Strings is a collection of 19 four-part chorales, easily tailored to all string ensembles. Because each part book includes all four voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) there are unlimited opportunities to introduce unison playing to the string orchestra. Unison playing is the most efficient way to improve the overall quality of a string orchestra's sound, and is the foundation of playing in-tune. When a string orchestra plays in unison, it is playing in several octaves simultaneously, and in-tune octaves are the very basis of superior intonation!
