"Steadfast Overture" is a highly lyrical piece that allows some flexibility for the performer to be expressive. This freedom encourages musicians to develop a closer relationship with their instruments so they can identify their strengths and limitations. This piece is wirtten in the traditional overture fashion and would be a great addition to your band's repertoire.
Technical Notes: This song is arranged to correlate with the Kjos method book "Standard Of Excellence", book 1, page 18.
The percussion 1 part calls for timpani, the percussion 2 part calls for bells, the percussion 3 part calls for crash cymbals, triangle and suspended cymbal, the percussion 4 part calls for snare drum and bass drum, and the percussion 5 part calls for advanced snare drum and bass drum. You may choose to use either or both of the percussion 4 and 5 parts - the bass drum part is the same on both, the only difference is the difficulty of the snare drum part.
