"The Black Horse Troop" was written by John Philip Sousa to honor Troop A of the Ohio National Guard, of whom Sousa was a member for a time. This troop exclusively used black horses and it is obvious from this composition that Sousa was quite fond of those black horses. Sousa's marches have become synonymous with patriotic music and American marches so this piece will go great with any performance that you do.

Technical Notes: The percussion 1 part calls for snare drum and field drums, and the percussion 2 part calls for bass drum and cymbals.
