Daniel Kallman brings us this lively march that your beginning ensemble will enjoy performing. The rhythms and melodies are light, fun, and exciting and will keep both your students and your audience on the edge of their seats waiting to hear what happens next. The percussion parts are challenging and will push your students to practice. Most of the time there are one or two main themes happening at once. These are usually unison with the high woodwinds and high brass or low woodwinds and low brass. This keeps the work from getting too complicated, and it offers a nice blend of sound. The percussion section has many little fills that last anywhere from one to four bars, and there is a nice trumpet solo toward the middle of the work. It is a wonderful work to teach your beginners about the march style. It offers many interesting harmonies and rhythms throughout, and will be a nice addition to your next concert. Your students and audience will thank you.
Technical Notes: The percussion 1 part is for xylophone, bells, and triangle. The percussion 2 part is for snare drum and tenor drum. The percussion 3 part is for bass drum. The percussion 4 part is for suspended cymbal and crash cymbals.
