As you might expect from the title of this work, it is written in the style of an opera overture. James Hosay composed the piece in the styles of Wagner and Mozart. The introduction is very broad and full. The melody is flowing while the background accompaniment is very rhythmic. Like most opera overtures, you will hear bits and pieces of different melodies throughout the work. All of these bits and pieces come together later for a glorious ending. This piece is surely going to be loved by the audience and the performers. To help your students learn this work, we have included a demonstration CD that features this work. It also includes many other works of various difficulty levels. You may use this CD to help choose works for future concerts.
