James Swearingen is one of the leading composers for the young ensemble. His music is performed regularly on concerts around the globe. This work features a light and flowing melody that works its way from the woodwinds to the brass. The style of the piece is very important. If the melody is played too heavily, then it takes on a whole new sound. The piece ends with a nice maestoso section that builds to a loud, full chord. This will be a beautiful work to have on your next concert.
Technical Notes: The mallet percussion part is for chimes, bells, and xylophone. The percussion 1 part is for snare drum and bass drum. The percussion 2 part is for tambourine and suspended cymbal.
