"American Overture" was composed in 1953. This 50th Anniversary Critical Edition includes a full school (something the 1956 edition did not have). The process of editing this new edition was overseen by the original composer, Joseph Willcox Jenkins. This piece is dedicated to Col. Chester E. Whiting U.S.A., and the US Army Field Band.
Technical Notes: The percussion part is for snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, gong, woodblock and bells.
All of the cues are "safety doublings", rahter than guides to count through rests. They should be played only in the absense of the instrument shown.
