The partita, consisting of a number of variations on a choral melody has been popular for centuries, especially for organ music. Henk Von Belcum, who is active in the choir world, chose for his "Partita Piccola" the German hymn "Wunderbarer Konig" as a starting point. We know the tune as "God Himself Is With Us". "Partita Piccola" consists of four variations and a choral setting, which is not used as the opening of the piece, but as an interlude between the last two variations. You can also use this setting in a church service, with one of the variations as a prelude.
Technical Notes: The percussion part is for snare drum and floor tom. The keyboard percussion part is labeled "Mallet Percussion" and is for glockenspiel, tambourine and suspended cymbal.
