This overture by John Tatgenhorst was written as a tribute to the many dedicated band directors across the country who develop excellence in their musical programs year after year. The music grows from simple melodic motifs into a variety of spirited and rhythmic variations. This piece features band vocals and dramatic effects.
Technical Notes: The 1st mallet percussion part is for bells and marimba. The 2nd mallet percussion part is for chimes, xylophone, and marimba. The percussion part is for bell tree, tambourine, triangle, and suspended cymbal. The tim-toms part is labeled "Tom-Toms".
