This overture, written in 1971 for concert band, is dedicated to Michigan's Blue Lake Arts Camp. The "Blue Lake Overture" shows Chance's ability to develop material in different ways. The highlight of the overture is in the middle section, where the opening theme is repeated, and given a waltz-like treatment.
Technical Notes: The baritone B.C. part has the baritone T.C. part on the reverse side. The B Flat contrabass clarinet has the E Flat contrabass clarinet part on the reverse side.
