Here is a true gem from the march era that has stood the test of time. John Moss has beautifully adapted the original to fit a more standard instrumentation and make it playable by today's bands. You won't go wrong playing the "Hall Of Fame" concert march!
Technical Notes: The bells part is labeled "mallet percussion" on the score. The 1st percussion part is for snare drum and bass drum. The 2nd percussion part is for crash cymbal and large triangle. Notes To The Conductor: Joseph Olivadoti (1893-1977) was a prolific composer of fine overtures and concert marches. His valuable contribution to the repertoire during the crucial, formative years of the American school band movement is well recognized. When first published in 1931 "Hall Of Fame" met with immediate success and popularity among school bands and listening public alike. Early printings of this fine concert march remain in countless music libraries throughout the country. The intention of this particular adaption is to allow younger bands access to a classic concert march without disturbing the composer's musical conception. Hopefully, this edition will meet the needs of a wide variety of ensemble levels including that of the mature middle school band. An inherent dramatic underpinning characterizes "Hall Of Fame" as achieved by the effective and judicious use of musical contrast. Bold fanfare statements give way to gentle and flowing melodies. Moments of high energy are immediately followed by passages of quiet, lyrical repose. Of particular charm is the almost bel canto-like treatment of the trio melody. Olivadoti received his early musical traning in his native Italy (he moved to the U.S. in 1911) and it appears likely that he was well versed and influenced by the great Italian aria heritage. Joseph Olivadoti's unique sense of musical flow and design has produced an attractive and exciting concert march which after 70 years continues to appeal to and delight all who experience its captivating effect.
