Easy yet strikingly imaginative, this medley by Paul Jennings is certain to be the highlight of your Christmas concert. "A Rhapsody Of Carols" includes "Joy To The World", "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear", an enjoyable round on "Christmas Is Coming", and "O, Come All Ye Faithful".
Technical Notes: Notes To The Director: This easy medley of favorite Christmas carols should provide a solid concert closer for bands at many levels. The joyous opening statement (Joy To The World) may be taken at a faster tempo than the one indicated as long as it does not sound rushed. Probably the single most important element to watch throughout is the dynamic nuances. During the beginning of the round (Christmas Is Coming), you may wish to start each entrance with a soloist (for eight bars or so) and build to the full ensemble. With groups that have never performed a round, you may wish to start a long round during a rehearsal to demonstrate the concept.
