The Daniel Speer Trombone Consort was founded in 1985. The group is named after Daniel Speer, 1636-1717, who was one of the first to compose music for trombone trio and quartet. The ensemble has made TV, radio, and concert appearances around the world. Much of the available trombone trio and quartet literature exists because this ensemble got the attention of composers.
