Claude Bolling is a major force in the musical world today. He is a composer, arranger, pianist, and orchestra leader, and was recognized as a prodigy at the age of fourteen. As a jazz pianist, he was the leader of a group that won awards in Europe for five straight years. The 37/34 Jazz Ensemble is actually made up of orchestra players. When the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra went bankrupt, due to a vote of 34/37 on a petition, four of the players started this jazz ensemble and they have been recording together ever since. This unique ensemble, made up of flute, piano, bass and drums offers a different jazz sound. All jazz lovers should give this CD a listen.
