Gene Pokorny was named principal tubist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, one of the most coveted positions out there, in 1988. He studied tuba with Jeffrey Reynolds, Larry Johansen, Roger Bobo, and Arnold Jacobs. He has played with many famous symphonies and ensembles including the Israel Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony, Summit Brass, and others. He is still a performer, teacher, and clinician.
