To use, just drop the weighted string into the bell of the instrument, then pull the string (and the silk swab itself) through your clarinet. As the silk passes through the clarinet, it removes build-up from the inside of the instrument. It is perfect for the mouthpiece, as well. Care instructions for the swab are a breeze, too.
