"Pulse for Brass and Percussion" composed by Seiichi Inagaki is a colorful atmospheric work with a distinctly Oriental flavor. The body of work is amazing as it features the best qualities of each instrument and helps your ensemble achieve its highest potential. To achieve the sound the composer was wanting, he had to use some non-standard music notation which is easy to learn and described in the front of the folio. Technical Notes: The trumpet parts come on a part labelled "Trumpets" of which there are three copies. The same holds true for the trombones and the percussion. Percussion I is listed as suspended cymbal 1,2,3, glockenspiel, xylophone, cow-bell 1,2, woodblock 1,2, bongo 1,2 gong, timpani 1,2,3, tom-tome 1,2 and naruko. Percussion II is listed as suspended cymbal 1,2,3, piece of iron 1,2,3, cow-bell 1,2, claves, woodblock 1,2, bongo 1,2, tam-tam, tom-tom 1,2,3. Percussion III is listed as suspended cymbal 1,2,3, marimba, cow-bell 1,2, woodblock 1,2, bongo 1,2, tom-tom 1,2,3, timpani 1,2,3, maracas.
