"A New World Adventure" is one of Doublas Court's best new works. Perfect for a "first" band concert, this two and a half minute piece will allow you to show off your band's progress to the entire world.
Technical Notes: The keyboard percussion part is labeled "Mallet Percussion" and is written for bells. The 1st percussion part is for snare drum and bass drum. The 2nd percussion part is for triangle, tambourine and suspended cymbal. The piano part is labeled "Piano Accompaniment".
Note to the director: A good confident opening by the trumpets will get this piece off to a good start. Solid, well-marked tonguing will create the desired style through much of the piece. The upper woodwinds carry the theme at measure 21, and it will be important for the trumpets to balance their accompaniment figure by playing under the melodic line and the counter melody in the alto saxophone and horn parts. Trumpets and clarinets take over the melodic line at measure 30, where the bass instruments answer with a counter melody of their own. A uniform style is essential at measure 38, as the melodic material presented by trumpets is answered in the upper woodwinds. Good accents are required at measure 46, where balance is again extremely important. Eighth notes at measure 55 are again accented in the answering voices and should be well marked.
