Take a vacation in the beautiful Renaissance era with "A Renaissance Pageant". This arrangement, comprised of three dances compiled by Praetorius, captures the spirit of the days of yore. With beautiful melodies and interesting rhythms for dancing, each section in your band will shine when you perform "A Renaissance Pageant".

Technical Notes: The 1st percussion part is for 2 large field drums, bass drum, and finger cymbals. You may substitute a suspended cymbal (strike on the dome with a drumstick) for the finger cymbals. The 2nd percussion part is for tambourine and triangle.

Beautiful melodies and interesting rhythms are two important elements in dances of the Renaissance era. These three dances are some of the most memorable from "Terpsichore", a collection fo Renaissance dances compiled by German composer Michael Praetorius (1571-1621). Each section of the band gets a chance to shine. The brass and woodwind sections are each featured alone, and the second dance has an opportunity for optional solo woodwinds. The percussion section is featured throughout with interesting parts that add a great rhythmic drive to these wonderful dances.
