This book/CD collection presents a step-by-step breakdown of the bass styles and techniques used by Motown bassists, most prominently by bassist James Jameson who played on most of the hits from the Motown era. The book features licks from 15 of these classic hits written in standard notation with the history and playing notes for each song. The CD includes all the tracks listed in the book with demo performances, as well as play-along backing tracks. Any student of the bass will want to study these classic soul and R&B riffs in order to fully understand their unique instrument!
