Item number 1702862JE, 104 pages, $17.95 Cecile Chaminade was a French composer in the latter part of the 1800's, and early 1900's. She showed great aptitude for music at an early age, and Bizet predicted a brilliant future for her when he became familiar with some sacred music that she had composed at the age of eight. She was considered an equal to other famous musicians of her time in spite of being a woman. Her principal work, "Callirhoe", included in this collection, premiered in 1888. Chaminade was highly respected as a composer, a vocalist, a concert pianist, and a conductor. Her compositions survive her and continue to be used in lessons and recitals.
