The 19 pieces in this volume are excerpts from two ballet suites composed by Dave Brubeck. "Glances" is a four-movement suite for solo piano. Brubeck himself describes "Glances" as "my most Milhaud-inspired work", a tribute to the French composer with whom Brubeck studied composition. Also included are eight selections from "Points of Jazz": "Prelude", "Scherzo", "Rag" and "Waltz". "Points of Jazz" was commissioned by the American Ballet Theatre and the cover of this incredible collection features Brubeck at the piano surrounded by the dancers. This is a book filled with something for everyone, and should be part of your music collection.
