Item number 1800006JE, 86 pages, $21.95 One of the most influential fusion bands of the 70's, the Brecker Brothers set a new standard for jazz-funk by melding a hard bop aesthetic to solid pocket grooves. Founded in 1974 by Philadelphia-born siblings Randy and Michael, the Brecker Brothers remained a potent force in contemporary jazz through the early 80's, reuniting in the 90's with fresh musical insights and a more formidable impact. 1992's "Return of the Brecker Brothers" marked a continuation of the infectious grooves of the 70's and 80's , but with a distinctly 90's attitude, while 1994's double Grammy award-winning album "Out of the Loop" pushed further into Afro-pop and hip-hop flavored jazz. This collection includes note-for-note transcriptions with sketch scores of tracks from the two landmark CD's from the 90's.
