Austrian born, Ignaz Pleyel is the composer of this collection of "Six Easy Duets" for two violins. Although he was the writer of more than 45 symphonies and numerous other works in his lifetime, his outstanding ability was overlooked as a result of one of his contemporaries, Franz Joseph Haydn. Even at this, his concerts were well heralded and attended throughout Europe. He is most widely known for starting a publishing company that released over 4000 works in its 39 year history, including works by Beethoven and Hummel.
