Dmitri Shostakovich wrote some of the most challenging string quartet of his time. Even though he lived a short life, only sixty years, he was able to accomplish a lot. In the later years of his life, he developed a serious heart condition, but he did not let that slow him down. String Quartet No. 4 is one of his fifteen quartetes. The Russian melodies and harmonies create a wonderful and perplexing mood. We have imported this work from Moscow in it's original form. It is sure to challenge eventhe most advanced player today.
