Children were playing with yo yos and Erector Sets, women were wearing bikinis, the emerging highway system stemmed the song "Route 66", and soldiers brought home "(There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs Of Dover" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". Lots was happening in the 40's, and this great book gives you a good comprehensive sampling. There was lots of classic show music from Irving Berlin and Rodgers and Hammerstine, smooth tunes like "Sentimental Journey" and "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You", and of course, some silly songs, including "I'm A Lonely Little Petunia (In An Onion Patch)" and "I Said My Pajamas (And Put On My Prayers)". There is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy in this collection, including you!
